(Jimmy got a new toy. He let E play with it.)
Really, it should be Baumzinger news, but would you change your bookmarks for that?

Like a Steel Trap
Image stolen from Heather. At bedtime tonight I was trying to let Eamon know he'd be seeing some of our and his friends this weekend. All of a sudden he said "I want to see Heather". I asked if he remembered Heather and he said yes, and then said that he threw rocks in the water. Lots of rocks. And sticks.
That was two months ago.
Thanks to the iffy weather, I don't think we've been back to the lake since.
I'm a little blown away by his memory sometimes.

Growth of the Red-breasted Toddler
When we last saw the red-breasted toddler, he was still in his namesake nest plumage.
He has matured, and is venturing further to explore his environment.

Yet still, his song is a happy one... happier and louder, for he can reach the bells and use the drums and xylophone on the other end of his grounds of play, and the spring, it is upon us again.

Good Morning
Send birdbaths. And a rag.

That was one BIG bear
We've had this crazy carpet in our bedroom for a while. It's what's left of the basement carpet from the old house. It's thick, it has this crazy texture (it sort of crinkles under your feet), and it's awesome for wrestling about on. It is not, however, allowed to be near the cats, who seem to think it's a good target (hence, "it's what's left"). So we put it in the bedroom. Everyone who walked it saw the view, and then asked what was up with the carpet. We had to do something with it. A blog gave me an idea. Ray found more info. So we did this....

Always good to throw a dance party while you work!
I ran off to get some other stuff done... and came back to this.

We did have some vacuuming up to do, but now it's just awesome, and fun. And now the reaction we get is "That was one BIG bear."

Wrong Side of the Fence

Eamon can't wait to be two and a half and move up to the next room at daycare. Mainly because he gets to go to the big kids playground. With the scooters, and bikes, and slides, and....
No one has told him he'll have to give up the motorcycle. Growing up is hard.
(For those of you elsewhere, I have to rub it in and note that these pictures are from early March. We had a warmish, dry, and somewhat windy March.)

I'm going hiking...
A couple of weekends ago Alli and I took E for a hike (Ray was at work). He was so excited to hike, and he did do some of the flats (at toddler speed). The hike ended by NCAR, which has some perfect climbing boulders.

E was so excited to hike, I don't think he realized how much fun climbing was. Yet, he did.
(Ray, Alli, and Jana took E again last weekend. He hiked even more, and has the busted up knee to prove it. JUST enough to qualify for a bandaid, probably for the next year or so, please.)

"Blanket" Races, Take 2
We had a lot of packing material to get rid of, between Paperback Swap and Amazon Mom. This somehow turned into Eamon's idea of heaven. Ray reinvented blanket races.
It's a little bit more staticy this way. Check out his hair!
But it is very cute.
And yes, he is fully able to breathe.
This does look less disturbing, though. Either way, E loved it!

They Say it's your Birthday
Two months later, and Eamon still asks to be sung the "Happy Birthday Song". I wasn't sure how he'd handle his classmate's birthday party.
He didn't quite get this part.

But he totally got the rest.
(Note to self: don't bother worrying about getting your child into a new shirt for a birthday party. No one will see it anyway. Even if they do, the little girls will be dressed to the nines and the little boys will be slobs.)
(Note to everyone else: that little girl in the pink jacket is one of E's two best friends at daycare. They're very cute together, but she's one of few girls in the room, and man, she has the spunk to keep all the boys in line.)
