Friday Cute: On the Trail

It seems like I should say something here, but he's got a lot to say for himself.
So we'll go with "Have a good weekend!"

Maine (part 2)

Come, join us for a peaceful interlude on Upper Narrows Pond.

Maine (part 1?)

We had some amazing trips this month. I'm still sorting, editing, even downloading and, well, it's bedtime. So... Maine. It was amazing. When your friends buy a house on a lake in Maine, go. Particularly if your friends are fun, great cooks, and have good taste in beer. Ah, just go visit Heather and Pete.

Some highlights:

Pemaquid Lobster Coop- Eamon ate crabcakes, not so much for the lobster. We got an amusing conversation amongst the other tables about how much fun they have driving their porsches, particularly at 120 mph across east Texas (near their second/third homes). Heather and I didn't tell them that the buicks that we had when we were 16 could do 120, nor did we tell them that Texas... stinks.

Ray just enjoyed the lobster. Eamon liked the crabcakes.

But really, he liked the playground, and even better: the rocks under our table.

Deep thoughts

It has been a hectic couple of weeks. Two trips in a row, and lots of pictures to come once I edit (although I can't share some of them because they're not of our child).

I've learned some fun things in the last two weeks..

-I can get myself and E to the airport and go on a flight all by ourselves. I do not want to do this for any flight longer than about two hours.

-Two toddlers in adjoining airplane rows will share toys freely- as long as they get whatever the other guy had.

-Eamon will sleep on a plane- if the flight starts two hours after bedtime.

-I can take care of three toddlers at once. They entertain each other, which is nice, but I was still very aware of the minutes until bedtime. Also, this produces a lot of diapers.

-Three hungry toddlers can make it very hard to get dinner on the table. They do not see the irony in this at all.

-I knew Heather and Pete would feed us great food. I didn't realize they'd teach us the lazy way to cook corn (10 minutes in the microwave, turn halfway through), make me so jealous of the crazy honors system farmstands in Maine, and get Eamon to eat kofte or potato burritos. The fact that E was the only male to like the ginger ice cream is just a bonus.

-E is okay with riding along in a kayak. However, the kayak tends to contain cold lake water, which is unacceptable. Thus, he prefers the canoe. Then he can lean out and splash in the water to his little heart's content.

Sorry, did you come here for pictures? Here are a some from three of the six flights we've taken in the last two weeks:

If you came for edited pictures, well, I'll be on that soon!

Shoh? Outsiy?

The posts have been a little short the last week or so, I know. Perhaps that's because we have put on our shoh? and gone outcie? (Yes, these are both interrogatives at all times.)

I assure you that normalcy will be returning soon. And someday we'll get the stink of those keens out as well.

I have no caption. You?

Purple horseshoes?

Despite his Irish heritage, Eamon is not sure about the whole Leprechaun thing, but he thinks there should be a push trike at the end of every rainbow.

A look ahead

For the first time I feel like I got a look at what Eamon will look like as a teenager.
If he inherits certain tendencies/hobbies from his father.

Yup, I can totally see him as a lasertag/paintball/watercannon gunner, ranging the target.
Best reason to do morning walk in pjs on laundry day.

MWAH!

In case you haven't noticed, I take a lot of pics for Ray when he's traveling. A lot of them involve a captive subject (easier to get non-blurry ones that way).
I'm supposed to clean WHAT with the towel?
Silly Mom, my face isn't dirty!
SEE?
He sends his love to ALL of you.
MWAH!
Who wants kisses?

(Admittedly, in that first picture, he probably was cleaning off some jelly that he put back there earlier.)

HOT!

People, it has been very hot here. 90 degree temperatures and actual humidity (50-100%? Is that legal in Colorado?). I know, I heard, Minnesota is worse. I'm still sweaty (sorry, Mom: glowing).

We're dealing.

Easily Amused

This is why fathers are good for little boys. Mine is lucky to have a very good one. Eamon invented this game last week, but Ray seems to have caught on to the rules quickly.

18 months.

Eamon turned a year and a half old today.
Yes, yes I did!
(Look familiar?) (and for more chair, click here)

He's increasingly verbal - "bye", "'nana", all cats are "Mo!" with a grabby hand motion (which, in cat, translates as "RUN"). Hi, yeah, out, shoe, ball, bubble, mine, no... the list is getting longer by the day. He picked up the arms akimbo shoulder shrug that goes with "Where's the..____?", and that cracks me up. But mostly:
BALL.

Eamon is more adventurous by the day. He's still not sure about bodies of water, but he's sure about anything he can climb or jump off of - to the point of questionable judgement. He climbs anything at the playground including ladders that are really a bit big for him, he's learning to slide, he wants to jump off everything (but doesn't yet know how to land), and this weekend he surprised Ray with his ability to grab a bar and swing off (in this case, off the top of a stepstool in Home Depot). He can't quite run yet, and I'm thankful for that!
Just wait, Mom...

He does have his calm moments. He likes putting the rings on his stacker, although he has no love for blocks. He loves books, and he's starting to point out things in the books (cats, dogs, balls). He just discovered the next step up in Dr. Seuss (Go Dog Go!) and it's now an addiction. Daycare lets him paint and scribble and he loves both, although he seems to paint himself as much as the paper. He'll also stop for a few short moments to eat, preferably noodles, bread, or dairy (that's my child!)

Above all else, though, he'd like to have his "shooz" on and be "out" - for a walk, preferably to locate all the unloved balls in the neighborhood. Squirrels, leaves, bunnies, birds, dogs, other kids, and ants are good, too.
Ohhh, good idea, let's go!

In the interest of record keeping, this is the first photo session where he (safely) got himself out of the chair, and was off and running... interesting times keep coming.

Thanks for an exciting 18 months, little man. We love you!
