Boulder County Fair-July

More from the phone that sees everything and goes everywhere!

We rushed from our newborn photo shoot to the Boulder County Fair because I promised E he could pet rabbits. He did pet the rabbits (and T got to eat in the middle of the rabbit barn - possibly first public bottle), but E was way more into the bigger animals and the rides.

Cam literally peed the entire time E was hanging out with him. Also: Cam is small. E is 40 inches tall, people. In other news, the last time I saw Cam was at a college football game where he tried to eat the astroturf. MY mascot drags his four cross-country athlete handlers. Hence, Boulder County fair has to recruit from that school up north.

No, not bitter about the result of this year's football game, why do you ask?

E is finally brave enough to enjoy the petting zoo, but he liked this attraction better:

Yes, corn. Lots of it. In his shoes. Whee!

E got his first carnival ride, and then we dragged him across the fairgrounds for mini donuts. Because they're Ray's favorite fair food. Can't you tell?

Apparently they were "cold", but I've never seen such a sad reaction to DONUTS. (I got ones with chocolate and crazy toppings on them and was quite happy. Goofballs.)

The first real fun at a petting zoo and first fair ride are both milestones, but E's biggest achievement was the last of the night. It cost $5 and fortunately they would give the money back if the kid chickened out - which E did, twice. But in the end, he got on, and it was all he talked about for a couple of days.

Oh yeah, pony ride! (Yes, the ponies were on a turnstile and yes Ray walked around next to him. Still, major achievement.)

Iphonography- July

Okay, time to get updated. When I started downloading pics, I realized that my phone tells the story of the last few months pretty well, and there are a few I've missed, so here we go...

I'm cheating here, because it was June 30, but probably our last big dinner out as a family of three. I do NOT recommend bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers to the highly pregnant. Just sayin'.

Something very important happened mid-July:

And his first manicure followed quickly thereafter (given Ray's hair, this is definitely after he slept in the hospital chair...):

Not even sure what is going on here, but I love the picture, so here you are:

July brought a lot of naps, too.

July was pretty mellow. More to come!

Photobomb

I think it's pretty obvious that I'm generally the one behind the camera. This leads to me begging Ray to "get a decent picture of me."

Unfortunately for Ray, this is harder than it may sound (my brothers can just skip to the comment box now, but remember: I edit the comments. :) ) Consider that I hand him the high-end camera that I rarely let him play with and expect him to get decent shots. Then, consider the other obstacles:

One obstacle:

The photobomb of cuteness. (Even the camera is distracted by this one.)

Wood Park

Those of you from LJ will remember the big wood park that was near our house.

Sadly, it has suffered the fate of many a wooden playground.

It is now plastic. Smaller. Less original.

However, E and Ray still had fun.

'lympics

We've had a lot of fun around here watching the Olympics. E keeps asking if he can watch "'lympics" and we may be using evening viewing as a behavior/nap bribe. Of course, when diving is on, he asks when it will be gymnastics. When gymnastics is on, he asks when it will be swimming....

Brothers

Note: Technology fail. This was supposed to post over a week ago, and one of the later post references something in here. Oh well.

I know everyone wants to know how E is dealing with all of this.

First Visit

We made it to see my parents last weekend (sorry, the Minnesota trip is coming, but a lot more difficult this time around - see: two kids, me going back to work sooner, etc. - but it is coming).

Anyway, it was great to get T to see one set of grandparents.

He's very excited about it, as you can see.

Going Home

I don't know why, but this photo set amuses me: T's trip home from the hospital.

No, not a fan of the carseat.

Surrendering to the inevitable.

Note: E's monkey blanket on Tighe.
Note also: the hospital staff told Ray to put the carseat up there. This is against all basic carseat safety. Heh.

Long fellow

Every nurse and doctor who walked into Tighe's room had one comment:
He is LONG.

Same birthweight as E. TWO inches longer. With puppy feet.
