Photobomb

I think it's pretty obvious that I'm generally the one behind the camera. This leads to me begging Ray to "get a decent picture of me."

Unfortunately for Ray, this is harder than it may sound (my brothers can just skip to the comment box now, but remember: I edit the comments. :) ) Consider that I hand him the high-end camera that I rarely let him play with and expect him to get decent shots. Then, consider the other obstacles:

One obstacle:

The photobomb of cuteness. (Even the camera is distracted by this one.)

Wood Park

Those of you from LJ will remember the big wood park that was near our house.

Sadly, it has suffered the fate of many a wooden playground.

It is now plastic. Smaller. Less original.

However, E and Ray still had fun.

Swim Lessons

E just finished his first round of swim lessons.

He's jumping into the water, getting his face wet, and propelling himself. All huge improvements over the course of two weeks. His kicks need some work...

...but hey, we'll take it!

Now, how do we convince him NOT to jump in the water alone?

4 weeks

Tighe is 4 weeks old today.

What, 4 weeks?

Whee, 4 weeks!

In honor of the occasion, we tried to get the standard blue chair pictures.

Do you guys have any idea what's going on here? Heh, monkey? Dino?

Oy, monkey, this is torture!
Torture, I say!

Yeah, so he wasn't into doing it alone...

... but pretty content to share the chair.

Here's an E for reference. (Not surprisingly, he wanted to be involved.)

T is doing well. He's eating like crazy, sleeping decently (mostly), and developing a pretty good set of lungs to express his displeasure. And the 3 mo. polo onesie fits way better than it did two weeks ago.

I think we'll keep him.

(For reference: E at 5.5 weeks in the same chair but with the back pillow on:
)

'lympics

We've had a lot of fun around here watching the Olympics. E keeps asking if he can watch "'lympics" and we may be using evening viewing as a behavior/nap bribe. Of course, when diving is on, he asks when it will be gymnastics. When gymnastics is on, he asks when it will be swimming....

Brothers

Note: Technology fail. This was supposed to post over a week ago, and one of the later post references something in here. Oh well.

I know everyone wants to know how E is dealing with all of this.

First Visit

We made it to see my parents last weekend (sorry, the Minnesota trip is coming, but a lot more difficult this time around - see: two kids, me going back to work sooner, etc. - but it is coming).

Anyway, it was great to get T to see one set of grandparents.

He's very excited about it, as you can see.

Temptation

One last note from my hospital stay. I've already mentioned the view from the delivery room. The view from the Mother and Baby unit is similar, with one small difference. Instead of the helipad, I spent three days staring at this:

This is also the view from my doctor's office, for the record.

Is anyone surprised that, after 29 hours, the first solid food I kept down was a Butterfinger Blizzard with chocolate sauce?

Going Home

I don't know why, but this photo set amuses me: T's trip home from the hospital.

No, not a fan of the carseat.

Surrendering to the inevitable.

Note: E's monkey blanket on Tighe.
Note also: the hospital staff told Ray to put the carseat up there. This is against all basic carseat safety. Heh.
