Camping: Buffalo Creek

Jana has kindly provided me with her pictures of our camping trip a couple of weeks ago. With that, we are ready to ROLL (the ball pun I'm making here? See below.)

Our camping weekend started out chaotic. Ray was going to be home Friday early, then he wasn't, then he was, then he... wasn't. Saturday morning, we're packing up, and Alli calls to say that they abandoned the original campground for its complete lack of level space and headed to Buffalo Creek Recreation Area instead. Throw in some horrid cell signal, the fact that Jimmy had already gone up and ended up camping alone, and this could have been bad. Fortunately, Alli and Isaac gave decent directions quickly and then went to fetch Jimmy. Jimmy, of course, enjoyed a mellow evening of solo camping and was lazing by the river. So, all was good.

We got up around lunchtime. Everyone else was set up and on epic hikes, rain was threatening, so we set up camp quickly. Ray and Eamon worked together.
Jimmy showed up with Sadie just as the rain hit, and Sadie kept Eamon entertained while we got the rest set up.





Alli and Jana ambled in soon thereafter, and Eamon found Alli's football. A theme for the weekend begins.

Jana is cooking, I'm babysitting, no idea what the boys are doing. Somewhere in here Allen and Isaac made it back from their death march. We got more rain, and Eamon and I stayed cuddled up and warm.
So did Sadie.
Alli (and Ray) found other ways to stay warm. Photobombed!
Eamon is obsessed.
By now we had a full tent city, so rain wasn't really a problem. Jimmy's gear messing up the whole REI sage theme, now that was an issue...(although, as much as we abused him for it, the wall on his alcove was really nice to have).
Rain + toddler = DIRTY. Yes, we did clean him off when he was done playing in the dirt (throwing it on himself). But he was very happy.
All of that rain paid off, and we went out to take pictures with the rainbow and nose rock.

We got up the next morning, broke down camp, and got a decent, if short, hike in before the rains came again. A short weekend, but a very fun and pretty one!
