Rock Creek Farm

This year Ray vetoed the hour drive up to the CSA for pumpkin picking and we stuck closer to home. It was still awesome, and E still sort of thinks pumpkins are balls. Mostly this year he wants to stack them, since every day he sees an inflatable yard decoration that is a stack of pumpkins.

Regardless, E was very into pumpkin selection and removal.

Ray was as well. This turned into a multi-field mission with bonus hike.

Bonus: lots more pictures as well.

And wind.

It's hard to hike over fields when your legs are short.

E was fascinated with the small pumpkins. We did buy him a couple in the end, although Poor Yorick here got left behind.

Fortunately, once you find the gihugous pumpkin of your dreams, you can walk back to the car via the road. Unfortunately, there are still challenges.

And once you get to the main farm, there are....

ANIMALS!

And fences you can climb to see animals. Hovering concerned father carefully cropped out of picture.

Hovering father also found elsewhere, alias Kilroy.

Hay mazes are extra fun this year.

The slide was hilarious. And slow. E climbed all the way up by himself, far slower than any of the other kids for some reason (he was smaller than most). Everyone waited patiently, and as he got about here he looked back at me and yelled "I'm almost there, mama!"
Yup. And totally worth it. The slide wasn't super slick and he had to bounce to get going, which freaked him out. He got over it quickly.

And lived to bounce some more.

We're still photobombing ourselves.

What do you want, hon?

Oh, in? Okay.

Fortunately a gorgeous day all around.

Back home E took charge of pumpkin layout.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

  2. This was actually a week before the snow, although the place was packed because the weekend before was freezing rain. We do have tshirt weather this week, though!
